Noah and the Ark (Holy Bible)

The NewMonday is generally available each Tuesday evening. Closed last Tuesday due to the extreme heat :)

Aired 10/4/2010

The next few chapters we will discuss Noah, his family, and the male/female creatures that were on the ark.  The ark was similar to a cruise ship. The NIV Bible says the ark was 450 feet long - long as 1 1/2 football fields and 45 feet tall; high as a five story building.  Some architectures have found parts of what could have been the ark near Africa.  The door was so large that God (Jehovah, Allah) had to shut it.  When you have big burdens it takes God to help you close/endure it.  Men, it is okay if you can not do everything.  Let God help you when something is too big for you to handle or endure.  The ark was built by Noah under God's instructions.  It took 120 years to build the ark.

The name Noah means rest or comfort.  Noah is the son of Lamech and the grandson of Methuselah.  He is a part of the 10th generation after Adam.

Chapter 7 Holy Bible, Genesis
7:1       Out of all the people in the world God chose Noah
7:2       Seven is the biblical number of completion. Notice the importance of having the male and female gender.  If the Devil wanted to he could have put a spirit of homosexuality, or bisexual spirit to decrease the number of habitation in the earth
7:5       What would have happened if Noah did not build the ark according to God's instructions? Should one always listen and obey God's instructions?
7:6      Noah was 600 years old. The average man lived to be 900 years old. Noah was reaching his golden years.
7:7      Who was allowed to go into the ark with Moses? Family -  his wife, sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth: their wives and the specified number of creatures
7:16    What God closes no man can open and what God opens no man can shut.  Can you imagine Noah building the ark year after year not knowing the exact day it would rain?  His friends and neighbors staring at the strange creations and waiting for the series of events.  Remember no one had ever seen a ship or rain.  They probably laughed at him - keep on building.  They probably thought he was crazy - keep on building.  Noah probably had to sacrifice a lot of his time and money - keep on building. Noah probably worked from sun up to sun down - and yet, he kept on building until it was finished.
7:19    The tallest hill in all the world is Cavanal Hill near Poteau, OK (See Wikipedia for further discussion)
7:21    Everything was destroyed that was not in the safety protection of God
7:24    Do you recall I discussed the Hebrew language from right to left.  Notice how telling time, or counting of years is often written at the end (right) of a sentence.

Have a nice evening and smile to one stranger.
