Sherlene: Well, Would You Rather Live In A TeePee?

Have you ever heard this phrase "Well, you could be living outdoors!"? As a child, I 'often' heard adults saying this to each other, or to their own children.  So I learned such mannerisms from observing. So when a child was being punished and wanted to go outside, they were told "You can go outside and get some fresh air. Sure you can. Sit right there, on that step (usually the step of the main entrance leading into a home), and I dare you to leave off of it." When I would visit my great aunt (who recently passed away), who lived in West Baltimore, I was amazed that city parents said the same thing to their children. So I know that there are plenty of city children that know what I'm talking about today. I have actually said this to my children, too. I'm in my late 40s now, and I have personally experienced living in a variety of housing situations--so that my four children wouldn't have to experience separation anxiety (of the sibling bond...

Sherlene Stevens: Community Investments

In our local communities, has the overall definition of religion become an idol? Are we now afraid to discuss religious beliefs outside of places of worship? Are reclusive clergy opportunities, as the only local community help, causing most of local, community financial setbacks?  Currently, the U.S. is considered to have most of modern-day practices of Christianity--including, sadly, American Christians whose habit is booze drinking. Fact: Most faith-believing citizens (Muslims and others), of international continents, do not drink alcoholic beverages--at all. If there is a social venue or stores that sell alcoholic beverages, in international Muslim areas, their political laws state that such beverages can only be sold to Christians! In America, we must remember, always, that religious laws are much different than our political or goverments' laws. Then, we have the proclaimed atheists or simply non-participating citizens--Are you an enemy of any state? Have you ever been ...

Sherlene Stevens: Where's the American Business Style of Incoming Foreign Businesses

Should all new businesses have the same traditional, American design layout? When it's important: Communities that are in need of community development efforts should strive to have an overall (community-based) business theme which expresses a productive, community and business partnership vision. Communities that are experiencing new-mjority citizen-neighbor shifts: race or income-household levels. Business zoning policies may often require specifics of placing business signs, size/color/style of the business sign, etc. Each local community has its own commercial zoning laws and policies. New foreign company owners--in America--may want to consider blending into the current social format of local businesses. This may mean eliminating your ethnic-identity symbols and posters. If a community is exhibiting phobias of a new business based on the owner's particular race, creed, religion, or product/service offered. It is important to blend in socially, sometimes, to be...

Sherlene Stevens: Million Man March 20th Anniversary

What we learned from the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March Summary (Just a woman's perspective) It wasn't a traditional social event; It is considered a social-cause movement, and the theme was Justice or Else! You had a "modernized choice" of viewing it on a local, TV cable channel such as C-SPAN or hosted event streaming. Don't you just love live streaming?  BET cable-channel did not air the gathering which has caused African-American audience disappointment of the latest re-branding effort of the network.  I've learned that women-of-color really do intrude the man cave. ... an all-male focused conference ... I am embarrassed of such actions, and I take this moment to apologize to the men present: Sorry . If your man doesn't trust himself--alone--to be in such a social setting, then he shouldn't attend with you (of the female gender :) The speech, Ladies:  "It's all about respect and trust. Respect for the socially focuse...

Welfare-State Community Category Checklist

I believe every community citizen has the right to know whether they live in a welfare-state community. The following guide will help your unique household, or family business in predicting future financial or personal goal outcomes.  Remember, "Every household should have a home office." Place this list in your home office area, and review when being challenged with your current finances or productivity goals: Note: This guide was created by Sherlene Stevens, Jan. 2014, your aspiring 2016 president. More minimum-wage job opportunities than long term, full-time jobs. More churches or religious organizations that do not provide or invite all of the commun...

These are the people or families that we should consistently hang around and try to model (copy).  Such individuals may feel that their work isn't noticed because they struggle with many conflicts or challenges.  It is because they are changing generational cur...

Special Issue: Our Communities

Dialogue of September 8, 2011 Dear Audience and Followers: Subject: Video Presented by John Munson Chestertown’s Future: Case Study #16 by John Munson. [A Youtube.com Video] youtu.be/gD3xXRaJuxo Chestertown Futures Case Study #16: John Munson John Munson has a gentle way of expressing the frustration as well as the hope for a entire generation of African-American young men in Chestertown. There’s a big scandal happening across North America.   Listen to the video to find out what it’s costing our citizens. I would love to hear other confessions if you are sincere, and admit that you were a part.   My suggestion is to sit all females in high positions down (if they were a part).   I am begging all religious organizations to do this just until we get to the bottom of this.   There are innocent victims who should receive an apology, money, and their lives back.   I say we must sit such women down in their positions (those who had a part) because they we...
