Sherlene: Devotion Socials and Easter Season 2019

It's time for families of devotion social (GICPA) to decide plans for the Easter season. Many of us will not be celebrating in the traditional manner of praising the crucifixion of Jesus-- the killing of an innocent man and our Saviour, dying on the prisoner's cross. We mourn the suffering that he endured so that we may have the choice to be a part of the everlasting life and real peace. During GICPA devotion socials, I, personally, show no respect/disrespect to the cross symbol.  As we realize, centuries ago, there were so many people who died on such crosses throughout the international lands of Jesus's historical era.  I choose to reflect the visual of the open cross to symbolize the meaning that Jesus is no longer on the traditional prisoner's cross. Why should we mourn for him when he is no longer on the cross? It is because he lives that our sins are forgiven, let's rejoice. During the month of March, our Food Fasting and Healthy Eating/Exercise social. E...

Sherlene Stevens: Christian Cross is the Fly On the Wall

The Cross is really faith believer's actions of what each of us does--seen and unseen everyday. Sort of like a fly on the wall that hears all and sees all. If you could pick up your personal cross, what would it reflect? Yahshua-Yahweh/JESUS/Isa wasn't welcome in many places, but it didn't change his morals or purposes.  I admit that some places he did instruct his followers to forget that they were ever there, and to shake the dust off of their feet. During Jesus's life span, people wore open-shoe styles (flip flops, sandals) even if it meant having dust or sand dust all over one's feet. With the warmer climates, many of us will probably replace tennis shoes and high heels for the average flip flop.  Though most podiatrists (foot doctors) believe that flip flops are "the worst" creative invention. Why is it that many people, globally, wear them? Americans must not be wearing the correct flip-flop/sandal material of quality then. We now know that Chris...

Sherlene Stevens: Traditions Are Changing

Eastern Season Topic. Due to the decline of American white civilization and international traditions, our holiday- and social-shopping traditions are changing. There is still a demand for chocolate-item products so much so that we may not have enough for the demand in coming years. Though you would never know when you visit most large retail or grocer chain--shelves filled with unused products after a holiday tradition. Easter-egg activities are still trending in most American cultures. Don't forget to have that one special egg, otherwise known as "the golden egg!" For a more serious discussion of a topic that I have been wanting to share for a while. I thought it would be highly appropriate to share during the eastern season. I know, I know, there are a lot of American citizens who consider themselves no longer doing the religious practices and traditions anymore. I realize that maybe one of those citizens may be you. It wouldn't be strange for the majority of my a...

Sherlene Stevens: The Earthly Man Named Jesus

So you may be reading this and aren't too familiar with structured religion. Who really was Jesus, while on earth? What was it like during his time? Jesus was born into Judaism: he was a Jew who practiced in the faith. Today, we would identify him as being a Jewish Christian. Jesus was smart--perhaps, today, he would have been classified a part of the gifted-and-talented. Remember: Only the Catholic and Jewish priests, or formal priests, were allowed to be taught how to read and write. Jesus was a homeless wanderer.  Most financially challenged people and his followers had no consistent home style. They often slept outside (warm climate). Yet, they knew how to conduct themselves in other people's living quarters. Jesus was born to fulfill the first promise of the one and true living God.  The second promise has yet to be fulfilled--the ending of the world as we know and the return of Jesus (See Holy Bible, Book of Revelation). It is all about this promise that we par...

A No-Good Man

From the Editor This is Holy Week for many Christian faith believers, including myself.  This week I would like to share a portion of a mini sermon that I prepared while in lay speaking (United Methodist) class, a few years ago. The NewMonday Show The lecture discussed a new leader (Gideon) for the children of Israel. We must be cautious to carry our faith with us in any battle that we face, sherleneonline.org 24/7 Let's talk A No-Good Man Men, you are not perfect and you never will be while living on this earth.   Jesus (Yeshua, Isa) said that he, himself, was not any good (Matthew 19:17).   Let me explain who is a no-good man. □        He walks on water (faith). □        He saves his community and family. □        He heals. □        He trains up a child in the way he or she should go. □   ...
