Sherlene Stevens: The Woman's Gold: Queen of Sheba

Reference: Queen of Sheba, Holy Bible, King James Version. During this last week of women's month, I wanted to take time out to acknowledge all women of all faiths. As many of you have heard me say this before, "When I was going through relationship challenges with my then-husband, I was not accepted to proceed in pastoral training by the request of the attending congregation of the United Methodist Church denomination"--a woman valued in training as a lay speaker only. All the religious titles that defined me and the actions that I participated in seemed to simply vanish, once I left my home-town community or shall we say my husband's family's communities and neighborhoods. It was my first time, living on my own, without my husband, in Wilmington, Delaware, that I actually attended worship at a loca

Sherlene Stevens: A Taste of the Germans Beer

That's how it began for many whites in our country.  Yup, drinking habits that were taught to the Native Americans, then the African slaves of how to survive without good, clean water. I believe if Americans would accept and teach the reality that most of our generational, skilled and unskilled workers had wish-and-a-prayer, lo

Sherlene Stevens: The Gayish Americas

Simply put--As it were, there is nothing new under the sun. (Or for this week's topic, there is nothing new of humanly actions of distinct sexual emotions and behaviors within the earth realm). The following sexual behaviors can not really be summarized into specific sexual styles. Each person's participation is unique which causes more anxiety by straight people of the meaning of, you know, "them kind". Don't believe me? Just ask anyone who considers themselves to be of the LGBTQ gender-community. Though today's world offers more clarity of these group-name labels: L esbian G ay B isexual T ransgender Q ueer             Is America really the land that is made for both "you and me"? -(This Land is Your Land song) As we are so eager to express, "North America's continental land is the symbol of democracy to be acknowledged by the rest of the world's continents." And with that being said, the reality is, all other conti
