Chp. 17 Exodus

Aired 4/18/2011.

Chp. 17

17:1  Now, no water for the people who have recently escaped bondage!  Do you think they now have faith to believe that God (Yahweh, Allah) will provide?

17:2  Moses is asking the people, "Why are you coming to me ...Go and pray to God to give you what you need..."

17:3  Instead of praying the people complained and murmured.
17:4  Moses didn't take his own advice and complains to God.  Is he a good leader?  He is asking the citizens to pray for self and to stop asking him to do everything.  He becomes fearful and begins to complain.  The is what we did to Jesus (Isa). Back in the day citizens struck and killed him for self satisfaction thinking only of self as the majority in the decision making in the given society.

17:9  Joshua fights the Amalek.  When God allows you to do something it's often for later events in your life.

17:12  When the troops didn't see God's rod they became afraid.  They began losing due to lack of faith.  When they saw the visual they became full of faith.  Which means to us that we must believe in God that we can not visibly see. Do we (all world citizens) rely too much on visuals? And, do we tire out our leader's zeal  when we, as followers, don't have enough faith to achieve goals?  We must be unified to win any battle.

17:15  Our last verse implies that the Israelites didn't do anything for the battle.  God allowed the Israelites not only to fight and win, but that he would battle with them. As he did with Pharaoh many generations before this battle event.  God has given his ruling.  My source refers to him in this verse as the Judge of the Universe.
