Chapter 5 (Exodus)

5:13 Pharaoh placed even more work on the Israel people. Using today's words, he included more tasks within their job descriptions. Was it fair for the entire staff to adhere to such demands? God (Allah, Yahweh) had hardened his heart.  God made him to feel no shame or empathy for the Israel workers' woes.  To simplify, "you will make money for me, and not for yourselves, or you can leave."  The slaves were scared. They were use to the given lifestyle.

5:14 This is similar to the African slave trade. First, we sold ourselves to the white man. After the first few sales, the white man realized how valuable we are to endure the harsh weathers.  We endured the spring-the hot summers-autumn-and the cold winters.  Amen, thank you God.  Yes, we endured.  If we made it across the seas African slaves...African slaves descendants, did we make it across the seas? White European slave descendants, did you make it across the seas?

5:17 Pharaoh puts his foot down and commands to follow his rules.  An attitude of you either continue working for less and only relying on my system or get educated, get skilled, and stop having a houseful of children knowing that it is a sin if you can not afford to give them the basic human needs.

Who has a Pharaoh in your life? Where you either must decide to work for him or leave to work with another as a team, as sisters and brothers in the faith. Or, your only choice will be to remain in bondage.  Bondage that you have now become accustomed to.  I guess it's as if saying to President Obama, "Your asking this of us now that we have been in a recession." And he probably would reply by saying, "Yes, because our American economy system is broke and we are going to shut the government down..We need working people who will employ staffs to rebuild our economy."

Lastly, the people became angry with their leaders (Moses and Aaron) because of the awakening that was given as a choice.  Moses was like any other leader when he asked God if he was sure that he wanted him to lead the people out of bondage... God can we really do this thing of leaving out of a recession and rebuilding our country? The Holy Bible is not just for yesterday, not just for today, and not just for tomorrow. Amen.
