Movie: Sparkle

From the Editor
As summer comes to a close, the awaited summer movie, Sparkle, will be in theatres on Friday. In this edition I will highlight key points for you before viewing the movie. I dedicate this edition to my sister, Ms. Whitney Houston. My next hosted event is Read Literature in the Presence of a Child, Aug. 22 - Sept. 22.
I am also promoting my book, The Script in My Box, during this event.

For those of you who may be interested in home schooling your child please submit a request in writing to your local board of education at this time. Did you know there are millions of children who do not attend public or private schooling in our country? This year will be the "highest attendance" of minority home schooling students according to the National Home Education Research Institute :) I guess parents are going back to days of home training (Thompson, L., 2012). If you are in need of "free" lesson plans, or curriculum please contact me so that you may have a successful start of a new academic year.

The New Monday Show
I am currently discussing topics from the Holy Quran. Last night, we concluded Chapter XLVII: Muhammad. Allah (God) discussed his vision and mission of using the leader of the new religious faith, the Islamic faith. There appears to have been major strife within other religions during this time of scripture. The lecture also discussed healthy and dysfunctional participations in family bonding opportunities, sherleneonline.org 24/7.

Let's talk SPARKLE:
First, giving credit to JetMag.com (2012, August 20) for movie discussion.
What you want to know:
  • Whitney Houston co-produced film along with Mara Brock Akil. Whitney would watch the original version (made in 1976) daily while inspiring stardom in the entertainment industry in her hometown of Newark, NJ. She was only 13 at the time.
  • It's a movie about the history of the African American fine arts culture in the late 60s: three sisters play a major role, family, love, and black religion.
  • Who are the gifted and talented taking part in the remake? Jordin Sparks (top pick by Whitney), Derek Luke, Carmen Ejogo, Tika Sumpter, and Omari Hardick. These are learned individuals within the industry.
  • Whitney loved the song, 'His Eye Is On The Sparrow'. She selected to sing this old time gospel selection in the current remake.
My point about my sister is that she tried, and she always strived to give her best to all in the audience. Should we have asked her to do any more than what she did knowing her challenges? Children voices mature; pregnant voices are different. Oh, well, that is another topic maybe for the next edition. By going out to see Sparkle we will once again relive the past and see what the end will be...
SPARKLE  IN THEATRES THIS FRIDAY.
