Globally
  • Germany parents are not allowed to use last names and the names of objects and products as first names. A child's first name must clearly indicate his or her gender, and all names must be approved first.
  • Iceland parents must first see if a name is acceptable (National Register of Parents). If parents want to choose a different name they must apply for the name, using only letters in the Icelandic alphabet, and pay a fee.
  • New Zealand parents are prohibited from using very long names.
  • Denmark parents must choose a preapproved baby name. The listing is created by a local church or government official.

Sunday is Father's Day!
